Trying a Different Approach

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

“I stared at the paper paralysed by the internal critic. “I can’t think of anything to create” and “I’m no good at art” it says. Rae asked if it was possible to ask the critic to step back just for a moment. Then they suggested I try not to think about it too much and see what emerges from the paint. This artwork then just seemed to flow right out of me. I really learnt a lot from this approach to art making.”

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
