The Invisible Scream š±
āThis represents the innocents (especially children affected by war. I took the fore print with an analogue camera and then blended it with a famous World War 2 propaganda pic.). I sketched and was playing with the first painting off of the famous Pink Floyd scream and the forefront being that of Muas. Pretty dark, but not all art is light. Helps to stop the darkness from consuming myself, so the release/art therapy helps for me to speak in words that I canāt always digress o

Email from Production Editor
Iām really excited to share that my artwork and poem Misgendering (2025) are being published in Art Therapy. This piece is deeply personal, exploring the experience of being misgendered through self-portraiture, collage and poetry, and it feels pretty special to see a piece of my own creative work finding a home in the art therapy literature. Snapshot of an email from the Production Editor. #arttherapy #taylorandfrancis #arttherapyjournal #arttherapypublication #creativeandex

Emotion Box
āEmotion Box The stains of paint are like scars left by trauma. This box tells the story of survival. The black box represents my body. Hidden inside are my emotionsāsome heavy, some hopeful. My heart is broken and cries quietly beneath the surface. Words of sadness, pain, disability, injustice, control and suicide sit beside hope, love, light, truth and equality. They all exist together, just as they do within me. The angels remind me that I am never completely alone. My cat

Tending to the Fire
āAs artists we are always playing with fire. We allow ourselves to go to dangerous territory, and often we find pain and suffering there. When we go to these deep places with others, we need to be keepers and tenders of their fire - with sensitivity, response-ability, imagination and aliveness. Tending the fire is the ethical basis of expressive arts therapy.ā - Ellen Levine Consent to share this collaborative artwork has been obtained #tendingthefire #artstherapy #arttherapy

After the Rain
āThis artwork is of a new day, a new life. It is the 3rd painting in the series of unknown numbers, which highlights the progression over a period of time. It represents a change in life experiences; experiencing tumultuous relationships, developing as an individual person outside of relationships and discovering yourself again. Sometimes you just have to wake up and smell the flowers.ā This participant gave me consent to share #creativetherapy #creativeandexperientialtherapi

Happy Bird
āInspired by a happy bird, emotions ran high. Art therapy helped me shift, allowing me to hold space for myself. A walk in the park, the warm sunā the birds were silent in that moment, but I knew the happy bird was there, amongst the trees. As the day moved on, a touch of colour brought it together. The anger lifted, the emotions settled. Thank you, happy bird and Mother Nature.ā This participant gave me consent to share #arttherapy #arttherapyheals #artheals #healingthrougha

The Outback
āI created this layered watercolour. I was inspired by an Aboriginal artist, Albert Namatjira, who creates paintings of the natural landscape. I used a white biro pen to create the highlights.ā This participant gave me permission to share #creativeandexperientialtherapies #watercolourart #naturetherapy #arttherapy #outbackart

Dinorawr
āArt therapy is helping me to reconnect with the kid that used to have so much creativity, and express that more frequently, leading to a much stronger sense of self. That kid was dinosaur obsessed - heck, adult me still very much loves them! Dinosaurs were my earliest special interest slash hyperfixation, so when Rae said they had polymer clay⦠Well, what else was a dinokid supposed to do? Ceratopsians are my favourites, but wow do I love a good sauropod too, and building on

A Study in Bark 1.
āStep one was a mess of paint mixed in to get a goopy brown base with a lot of texture forming. There was enough paint on the canvas for me to be able to take another small canvas and cover that as well with just like the excess (Iāll work on the smaller one at some point but itās primed now). Step two was a rough brush to get some deeper tones in a few choice places, again just for texture, this time something approximating grains. Third step involved inventing a few techniq
