“When I first began this piece I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to take it in. The day I started it I was going through quite a lot of stress with friendships and school and I mostly just wanted something to do that would help me get some of my frustration out, hence the splotches of colour in the background. I progressed with this piece over 2 more sessions after making the initial background. The rest of the sessions took place throughout my final weeks of high school so I was feeling a different kind of pressure, I wanted to do something fun that wouldn’t require heaps of precision since I had been focussing so much at school. I wanted to have fun with this artwork hence my inclusion of the stickers, butterflies and doodling I added around the creatures.”
