Polysecure offers valuable updates to attachment theory, highlighting gaps in earlier models. Some of the suggested exercises and frameworks could be beneficial for both monogamous and polyamorous relationships.

This book largely upholds traditional relationship norms and overlooks systemic oppression, promoting a singular, self-sufficient individualism standard that may exclude neurodivergent and other marginalised experiences.

This guide is trauma-informed and is worth a read for therapists and those seeking tools for managing and enriching multiple relationships. I like the HEART acronym, highlighting strategies that partners can use to foster more closeness:

H – Here & present

E – Expressed delight

A – Attunement

R – Rituals & routines

T – Turning towards after conflict

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
