Healing, It’s Not About You is a deeply personal and accessible exploration of one woman’s journey towards healing and action. I particularly enjoyed the way the author shares her own experiences throughout the book, allowing the reader to understand how her personal journey shaped the person she became and ultimately led her to consider what she could contribute to the world around her.

One of the things I appreciated most was the introduction to different therapeutic models and approaches to healing. These are presented in a way that feels accessible without oversimplifying them, making the book approachable for readers who may be unfamiliar with therapeutic concepts. I also appreciated seeing different approaches brought together rather than suggesting there is one pathway that works for everyone.

The idea that healing is only the beginning was particularly meaningful to me. The book encourages us to consider what happens after we have begun to understand ourselves and work through our experiences. Healing can give us the capacity to look outward, recognise what is happening around us and decide how we want to participate in creating change.

The author’s story makes this message feel tangible rather than abstract. Her experiences demonstrate how personal courage can develop through the process of healing and how that courage can influence the choices we make. I found myself reflecting on the ways our own experiences can shape what we notice, what we care about and where we feel called to act.

Overall, Healing, It’s Not About You is a warm and encouraging book that invites reflection without telling the reader what their journey should look like. It offers an accessible introduction to different ways of understanding healing while gently challenging us to think beyond ourselves. It left me with the feeling that healing can be more than something we do for ourselves. It can also become part of how we contribute to the world we share.
