This week in the studio we’ve been exploring the theme of shields through creative expression. We were invited to reflect on the people, communities, values and identities that help us feel protected, supported and strong. Here’s my shield, inspired by Pride, belonging and authenticity. Creating it reminded me that sometimes the things that protect us are not armour at all, but connection, self-acceptance and being truly seen.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
