Pandora’s Invitation

“I created this piece out of the grappling and tension within me of pursuing HRT/Transition as a genderfluid person. Holding the wrestling of the comfort I have within myself as I am now with this constant little voice in the back of my mind of what could be. There’s an apprehension over the implications and what it would ask of me to step over the line of that decision, both in positive and negative directions. It is an ongoing discussion with myself that may never have a definitive resolution, but I’m ok with that, wherever it ends up leading me.”

“~Pandora’s Invitation~

She often visits me.

In the corner of my eye.

Though sometimes she stares right back at me.

Sometimes she is me.

Sometimes she reaches out and grabs hold of me.

Pandora.

She reaches forth as a temptress.

Of what could be.

Her flower buds once open can never close again.

Her blinding beauty.

You’re never the same again.

Pandora’s invitation.

Of a desire not yet entirely realised.

To break out of a comfort in the indecision.

To taste of the sweet poison of the implications in two directions.

To be transformed into something new and more the same.

To breach the gap between reality and membrane.

Pandora.

Open handed.

Her offer always standing ready.

Ready for you to come steady.

Not to lose yourself in your reflection.”
