What do the colours of the Disability Pride Flag represent?

The Disability Pride Flag celebrates the diversity of the disability community and recognises that disability is not one single experience. Each colour has its own meaning:

💚 Green – Sensory disabilities

💙 Blue – Emotional and psychiatric disabilities

🤍 White – Invisible and undiagnosed disabilities

💛 Gold – Neurodivergence

❤️ Red – Physical disabilities

🩶 Charcoal background – Symbolises mourning and rage for disabled people affected by ableist violence and abuse.

The current Disability Pride Flag was redesigned in 2021 by disability rights advocate Ann Magill. It was created to be more accessible for people with visual sensitivities while continuing to represent the breadth of the disability community.

As we recognise Disability Pride Month, the Disability Pride Flag reminds us that disability is diverse, disability is valued, and every disabled person deserves respect, inclusion and equal access.
