4 August is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.
This is a day to celebrate the strength, cultures and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
This year’s theme, Living Our Truth, highlights the importance of truth telling and recognising the knowledge, identity and cultural strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
It reminds us that every child deserves to grow up connected to family, community, culture and Country.
National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of listening, learning and supporting self determination.
By doing so, we can help create a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are empowered to thrive.
