Intersex Day of Remembrance – 8 November

Today we remember and honour intersex people whose lives have been lost to suicide, discrimination or societal neglect.

We reflect on their stories, the challenges they faced, and the ongoing impact of stigma on intersex communities.

This day invites us to stand in solidarity, to listen and to learn from the experiences of intersex people. It is a reminder that remembering is not enough.

We must work together to create a world where intersex people are respected, affirmed, and able to live openly and safely.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
