"I find that I am often very reserved around strangers, colleagues and acquaintances, because I have learned to keep my guard up and use masking techniques in order to avoid creating awkward situations.
What I strive for is a way to "soften" my mask, a way where I can still use the techniques I have learning to make sure I am not misreading conversations or taking up all the air in the room, but also allow my real personality to come out and it not be so much work to simply be around people.
I liken this harmony to a flock of birds. Without using their awareness of others, birds would fly into each other and cause each other harm. But using too much caution and flying too far away from each other and they are no longer a flock, they are alone."
