The ADDRESSING model, developed by psychologist Dr. Pamela Hays, reminds us to pause and reflect on the many layers that shape who we are and how we show up in the world.

The model highlights key aspects of identity – including Age & Generation, Disability (both Developmental and Acquired), Religion & Spirituality, Ethnicity & Race, Socioeconomic Status, Sexual Orientation, Indigenous Heritage, National Origin, and Gender Identity.

Each of these dimensions influences our lived experiences, opportunities, and the way we understand ourselves and others.

Whether in therapy, community work, or everyday interactions, the ADDRESSING model is a tool for building awareness, challenging assumptions, and fostering inclusion.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
