July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental health is shaped by more than our individual experiences. Our identities, cultures, communities and the environments we live in all influence our wellbeing.

For many people from minority and marginalised communities, experiences of discrimination, racism, exclusion and barriers to accessing culturally safe care can have a significant impact on mental health.

Minority Mental Health Awareness Month is an opportunity to recognise these inequities, listen to lived experience and continue working towards mental health care that is inclusive, accessible and affirming for everyone.

Everyone deserves to feel seen, heard and supported when accessing mental health support.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
