May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental health does not exist in isolation.

It is shaped by our bodies, identities, relationships, and the systems we live within.

It can be visible or invisible.

Temporary or lifelong.

For many, it overlaps with disability, chronic illness, or trauma.

Not all struggles are seen.

Not all support is accessible.

And not all care is equitable.

Awareness is a starting point.

It is not enough.

What matters is access, safety, and support that actually fits.

There is no single way to experience mental health.

People deserve support that actually fits their lives.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
