Disability Day holds significant importance for the disabled community this year due to the impacts we are facing. I am deeply committed to advocating for disability rights.

It is essential to acknowledge that genuine inclusion and equity can only be achieved when people with disabilities are empowered to make decisions about their own lives.

When our voices and choices are integral to the decision-making processes that impact us, we can access the same opportunities as those without disabilities, which is the foundation of disability inclusion.

Having a disability does not equate to inability. Individuals with disabilities have the right to pursue their dreams with the same potential as their able-bodied counterparts.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
