6 April is International Asexuality Day.

Asexuality is a valid sexual orientation. Asexual people may experience little or no sexual attraction, and ace identities are diverse and real.

Too often, asexuality is misunderstood, dismissed, or treated as something that needs to be questioned or explained away.

Ace people can face pressure, invisibility, and harmful assumptions about relationships, attraction, and what it means to live a full and meaningful life.

There is no one right way to be asexual. Some ace people want romantic relationships, some do not, and every ace person deserves to have their identity recognised and respected.

International Asexuality Day is an opportunity to celebrate ace identities, challenge stigma, and advocate for greater understanding, inclusion, and affirmation.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
