International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia is the 17th of May!

Discrimination has real consequences.

When LGBTQIA+ people are silenced, excluded, targeted, or unsafe, it impacts mental health, access to care, relationships, community, and the ability to live openly and authentically.

This day is not just about awareness. It is about recognising the ongoing impact of homophobia, biphobia, interphobia, and transphobia, and the responsibility we all hold to challenge it.

Inclusion is not performative. It requires action, accountability, and a willingness to speak up, even when it is uncomfortable.

This is a reminder that LGBTQIA+ people deserve more than tolerance. They deserve safety, respect, affirmation, and the freedom to exist without fear, judgement, or erasure.

If you are part of the LGBTQIA+ community reading this: you should not have to make yourself smaller to be safe. You deserve to exist fully, on your own terms.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
