September is Suicide Prevention Month.

This year’s theme, “Changing the Narrative on Suicide,” comes with a call to action: “Start the Conversation.”

Suicide prevention is about more than crisis intervention. It is about creating cultures of care, connection and belonging where people can speak openly and ask for help without judgement.

Starting the conversation can create space for understanding, hope and meaningful support.

Suicide is complex, but it is preventable. Together, we can change the narrative.

If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, support is available:

Suicide Call Back Service: 1300 659 467

Lifeline: 13 11 14

Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636

13YARN: 13 92 76

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
