September is Suicide Prevention Month.

This year’s themes, “Together in Strength, Dignity, Hope, and Purpose” and “Changing the Narrative,” remind us that every conversation matters.

Suicide prevention is not just about crisis intervention, it is about creating cultures of care, connection, and hope.

Checking in on a friend, listening without judgment, advocating for systemic change, or simply reminding someone that their life has value are all acts of prevention.

Suicide is complex, but it is preventable. Together, we can reduce stigma, encourage help-seeking, and stand alongside those who are struggling.

If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, please reach out:

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
