Queer People

“A world devoid of queer people has never existed and never will because queerness is an essential part of the human experience.

Queer people have always been present throughout history and across cultures, whether celebrated, hidden, or persecuted.

Ancient Mesopotamian myths included gender-diverse deities.

Indigenous cultures across the Americas have long recognised Two-Spirit identities.

Same-sex love was present in ancient Greece, Rome, China, and Japan.

Even in oppressive times, queer lives persisted through coded letters, secret bars, chosen families, and whispered stories.”

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
