October is Polyennic Pride Month!

Also recognised as ADHD Awareness Month, October is a time to celebrate polyennic minds and the many ways we can experience attention, energy, creativity and thought.

Polyennic, meaning ‘many thoughts’, was coined by Raven Cochrane as a neuro-affirming, depathologised alternative to ‘ADHD’.

Rather than viewing having many thoughts as inherently disordered or deficient, polyennic offers language that can honour cognitive difference while still recognising the very real challenges that can come with navigating a world largely designed around monoennic ways of being.

This October, let’s share with each other about polyennic ways of thinking, neurodivergence and Polyennic Pride.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
