Non-Binary Awareness Week is 13–19 July.

This week is an opportunity to increase awareness of non-binary people, celebrate their contributions, and encourage greater understanding of experiences that exist beyond the gender binary.

While awareness and acceptance have grown, many non-binary people continue to experience misunderstanding, discrimination, and barriers to having their identities recognised and respected.

Increasing visibility and understanding helps create communities where everyone can feel safe, valued, and included.

Non-Binary Awareness Week reminds us that small actions, such as respecting a person’s name and pronouns, listening to lived experiences, and challenging assumptions about gender, can make a meaningful difference.

Together, we can help create a world where every person is free to be themselves without fear of judgement or exclusion.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
