Indigenous Literacy Day 2025

On Wednesday 3 September we celebrate Strength in Our Stories: For Now & Future Generations.

This day honours the power of storytelling in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and raises awareness about the literacy gap faced in many remote communities.

You can join in by:

• Celebrating and sharing First Nations voices

• Watching the national film and livestream

• Donating to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation

• Hosting or attending an event in your community

Together, we can help ensure stories are read, shared, and passed down for generations to come.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
