July is Disability Pride Month!

A time to celebrate the strength, creativity and resistance of disabled people while also recognising the ongoing barriers and ableism many still face.

Disability is a natural part of human diversity. Pride means claiming space, challenging stigma and building a world where access is not a favour but a fundamental right.

Here on unceded lands we honour the leadership of First Nations disabled people and the many ways disabled communities hold each other through systems not built for us.

Disability Pride is powerful, personal, political and worth celebrating all year round.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
