Depression

“To me, depression fills like a black hole hovering in the sky. It’s always there, wherever I go and whatever I spend my time doing. I work hard to live a happy and joyful life, and I often have long stretches of really positive and meaningful time. Even in the happy moments, the black hole is there, just hovering above the ground and ready to suck me in if I get too close. I’ve been learning to live a happy and joyful life even with this black hole constantly hovering in my field of view. After all, everything in the Milky Way, including the planet and solar system that we call home, is always orbiting around the black hole right in the middle of our galaxy.”

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
