Coming Out Day 2025 is on October 11.

Coming out isn’t the only story. Some of us prefer to be called in.

Calling in can mean inviting others into our truth on our own terms, in our own time. It is about safety, trust, and connection.

It can also mean when others make space for us, affirm us, and invite us to belong. It shifts the focus from disclosure to community.

Instead of a person having to announce who they are, calling in reminds us that we can also be welcomed and recognised by those around us.

Both coming out and calling in are ways to connect, be seen, and belong. Both are important, and both are worth celebrating.

On October 11, we celebrate them together.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
