Bisexual Awareness Week runs from 16–23 September, ending with Bi Visibility Day on 23 September.

This week is an opportunity to celebrate bisexual people and the diversity of bi+ experiences, while also raising awareness of the biphobia and bi-erasure that many bisexual people continue to experience.

Bisexuality is not a phase, a stepping stone, or a sign that someone is confused. It doesn’t have to look a particular way, and bisexual people don’t need to prove their identity based on who they are dating, their past relationships, or the way they experience attraction.

For some people, visibility can mean being able to openly name their identity. For others, it might mean seeing bisexual people represented in their communities, relationships, families, workplaces, healthcare, and the media.

Visibility matters. Representation matters. You matter.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
