Today is World Autoimmune & Autoinflammatory Arthritis Day, right in the middle of Arthritis Awareness Month — a time that hits close to home.

I live with ankylosing spondylitis. It’s a form of inflammatory arthritis that affects the spine and can cause chronic pain, stiffness, and fatigue. It’s not something most people can see, but it’s something I carry with me every day.

Sharing my story isn’t easy, but I do it to raise awareness, break stigma, and connect with others who might be silently navigating their own diagnosis.

If you or someone you love is living with

arthritis, know this: you are not alone.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
