This year marks 50 years of NAIDOC Week, a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience and cultural leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across generations.

The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy”, invites reflection on those who have paved the way and recognition of the young people rising today with courage, clarity and purpose.

It is a time to listen, learn and reflect. A time to celebrate culture, connection and Country. And a time to stand beside the next generation as they carry forward the legacy of those who came before them.

Everyone is encouraged to take part in NAIDOC Week by showing respect, amplifying First Nations voices and taking meaningful steps towards justice and truth-telling.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
